Job Title:

Playground Recreation Program Staff

Develop and implement educational and recreational activities at assigned Playground Recreation Program sites; ensure the safety and physical well-being of children and provide responsible support to higher-level staff.

This is a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

This is an unclassified at-will position.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED supplemented by forty-eight (48) credit hours from an accredited college or university, including fifteen (15) non-remedial hours in Math and English.
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or ability to obtain one by the date of hire.
  • Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from the date of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Methods and techniques of lesson plan development and instruction.
  • Theories and practices of education.
  • Principles and procedures of record keeping.
  • Principles and procedures of safety as related to educational activities.
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and Local Codes, Laws, and Regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of educational activities.
  • Administer minor first aid as needed.
  • Maintain and update accurate and detailed records.
  • Utilize computer software programs.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from the public.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City Officials and the public.
  • Perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
