Overview
Perform a variety of tasks in support of Parks and Recreation/Open Space facility operations including development and delivery of educational programs and conducting tours; coordination and accounting for reservations and fees; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to visitor service.

Education & ExperienceAssociate’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, education, recreation, or park management; and
Three (3) years of outdoor education/recreation or informal teaching experience.
Experience in outdoor science education or informal classroom teaching preferred.
Additional RequirementsPossession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid first aid certificate.
Possession of a valid CPR certificate.
May be required to work weekends/odd days off.

- Coordinate and direct educational programs for the Open Space Visitor Center
- Recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing educational services.
- Interpret Parks and Open Space rules and regulations
- Lead and assist in interpretive tours; public speaking ability
- Learn the natural and cultural history of Parks and Open Space areas
- Understand visitor service principals
- Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public
- Learn basic cash handling procedures>
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Assist in selection, training, direction, and supervision of assigned personnel and volunteers
- Assist in coordinating the work of lower level staff and volunteers li>Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
- Prepare clear and concise reports
- Communicate clearly and concisely
