Position Summary
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB) at The University of New Mexico (UNM) invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Organic Chemistry to begin in August 10, 2026. This full‑time, tenure‑track position focuses on experimental organic chemistry with research interests in optoelectronic materials and/or biomaterials. Applicants must have a PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field by the date of application.

ResponsibilitiesApplicants should demonstrate expertise in organic chemistry. The successful candidate will: teach core, required undergraduate and graduate courses in organic chemistry and elective courses in materials; supervise graduate students; and contribute to the visibility of the department through service and outreach activities. The faculty member is expected to establish a leading research program distinguished by national recognition and continuous external funding that aligns with departmental strategic goals and leverages local resources, including NMR and mass spectrometry facilities, nearby federal laboratories, and institutional collaborations.
