Position Summary
The UNM Department of Geography and Environmental Studies anticipates hiring Adjunct Faculty to teach in the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 semesters. Anticipated openings may include, but are not limited to, the following courses:

The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies is seeking qualified temporary part‑time faculty members to teach undergraduate classes in various subjects as specified above. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class that they are assigned to teach. Such responsibilities include but are not limited to meeting with the class during assigned times, delivering course content in face‑to‑face and online formats, developing and grading assignments, reporting grades, and assessing student learning outcomes per standards outlined by the department.
Teaching modalities (either face‑to‑face or online) will be determined by the department prior to the start of teaching assignments.
Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, permanent faculty availability, and the need to offer specific courses in order to fulfill degree program requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the Chair of the UNM Department of Geography and Environmental Studies.

Minimum QualificationsMinimum qualifications are determined by the Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements for UNM faculty. Minimum qualifications for the Adjunct Faculty position must be met in one of two ways:
- Earned doctorate in Geography from an accredited institution as evidenced by transcripts and CV.
- Successful teaching experience in post‑secondary geographic education as evidenced by CV.
- Successful professional experience in physical geography, human geography, or geographic information science as evidenced by CV.
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
