Temp Part-Time Faculty in Humanities
Position summary: This adjunct teaching role is located at the UNM Gallup Branch in Gallup, NM. Faculty will teach face-to-face and/or online lower‑division courses during the Spring, Summer, and Fall 2026 semesters in the following potential areas:
- AFTS 1110 – Introduction to Africana Studies
- AMST 1150 – Introduction to Southwest Studies
- CCST 2110 – Introduction to Chicana and Chicano Studies
- CLST 1110 – Greek Mythology
- CLST 2110 – Greek Civilization
- CLST 2120 – Roman Civilization
- HIST 1105 – Making History
- HIST 1110 – U.S. History I
- HIST 1120 – U.S. History II
- HIST 1150 – Western Civilization I
- HIST 1160 – Western Civilization II
- INTS 1101 – Introduction to International Studies
- NATV 1150 – Introduction to Native American Studies
- PHIL 1115 – Introduction to Philosophy
- PHIL 2210 – Early Modern Philosophy
- RELG 1110 – Introduction to World Religions
- RELG 1550 – Religion, Health and Medicine
- RELG 2110 – Eastern Religions
- RELG 2120 – Western Religions
Advisory:
Adjunct faculty may be eligible to receive certain UNM benefits in some cases. Candidates are expected to meet all course instruction responsibilities, including class meetings, content delivery, assignment grading and assessment of student learning as outlined by the division chair.
Wages: Adjunct Faculty are compensated on the basis of their credentials and credit‑hour course loads. Salary range: $1,135.26 – $1,228.24 per credit hour.
Best consideration dates:
- September 15, 2025 – for Spring 2026 semester
- January 15, 2026 – for Summer and Fall 2026 semesters
Minimum qualifications:
- Master’s degree in African Studies, American Studies, Classical Studies, History, Humanities, International Studies, Native American Studies, Philosophy, Religion, or a related field; or a Master’s degree plus 18 graduate credit hours in any of those fields.
Preferred qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in a related field and college‑level teaching experience.
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivating an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of UNM’s mission to serve local and global communities.
