The Department of Health, Exercise, & Sports Sciences (HESS) in the College of Education and Human Sciences is seeking temporary part‑time adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in the following programs:
- Athletic Training
- Exercise Science
- Health Education
- Physical Education Teacher Education
- Sport Administration
Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses.
This is a continuous posting for the Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2027 semesters. For best consideration dates:
- August 1, 2025 for Fall Semester 2025
- September 12, 2025 for Spring Semester 2026
- February 2, 2026 for Summer Semester 2026
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in the program area or a closely related field by contract start date for each program.
Preferred Qualifications- Postdoctoral scholarly work in an area relevant to the course.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching adult learners.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, and working with broadly diverse communities.

Applicants may substantiate qualifications with one or more of the following factors:
- Nationally disseminated published peer-reviewed research or scholarly work.
- Extensive related work or professional experience.
- Licensure, certification, or professional organization fellow status indicating advanced achievement by a national board.
- Professional honors, awards, or significant recognition indicating discipline-based content knowledge.
- Other demonstrated competencies and achievements relevant to the content of the course.
Applicants appointed to a UNM faculty position must provide an official certification of successful completion of all degree requirements prior to initial employment.
