Major Duties of the Position:
- Provide high-quality anesthesia services in our progressive, innovative health care system for the veteran outpatient and inpatient population.
- Conduct pre-anesthesia assessments to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Administer various types of anesthetics (general, regional, and local) to patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs during procedures, and manage their post-anesthesia recovery.
- Collaborate with surgeons, proceduralists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
- Manage pain control and provide consultative services for patients experiencing acute and chronic pain in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Teach and mentor nursing students, residents, and fellows, contributing to educational development programs affiliated with the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine.
- Participate in the development and implementation of anesthesia policies and procedures to maintain high standards of care.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care, teaching, and research.
