Primary Care Physician with Hospital Duties

The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Department of Family & Community Medicine, seeks qualified and dynamic Family Medicine Physicians interested in joining its faculty and passionate about service, education,scholarship, and leadership. Candidates hired for this position will provide patient care in outpatient and inpatient settings and support departmental education and scholarship efforts. Physicians interested in securing funds for research projects are also encouraged to apply.

This position will include a primary care clinic with adedicated patient panel and duties supervising residents in the ambulatory setting and on one or more of the following hospital services: obstetrics and maternal/child health, hospital medicine, newborn nursery, and/or intermediate care nursery. The educational duties will include teaching

UNM medical students, physician assistant students, and UNM Family Medicine residents and fellows.

Family-Based Clinical Care

In the clinical area, the new faculty member will provide primary care to a panel of patients at one of our Family Medicine clinics in aPatient-Centered Medical Home model and will have the opportunity to supervise residents in this clinical setting.

Family Medicine faculty provide care in the Maternal Child Health service (a Family Medicine obstetric service), the Family Medicine Inpatient Service, which provides care to adult and pediatric patients, the Newborn Nursery, and the Intermediate Care Nursery. In this position, new faculty will provide service and supervise residents on one or two teaching services as part of their job duties.

Innovative Education

We are nationally and internationally known for educational innovation. Our department's areas of academic expertise include the social determinants ofhealth, community health and engagement, culturally effective care, addiction medicine, and point-of-care ultrasound. Our faculty are major contributors tothe education of medical and PA students at UNM, and our residency program provides opportunities for rotations in rural and underserved settings as wellas UNM rotations.
