This position provides inpatient pediatric/newborn care in 2 primary venues. The Pediatric Hospitalist cares for pediatric patients referred by the emergency department, urgent care and primary care provider, then returns care of the patient to the primary care physician at the time of discharge. The hospitalist is responsible for managing the care of pediatric inpatients and works collaboratively with nurse case and care managers, care coordinators, consulting and primary care physicians and other facility-based healthcare professionals who comprise the patient’s care team.The hospitalist leads the care team in providing efficient but compassionate care.
Presbyterian Medical Group seeks a Board Eligible / Board Certified Pediatric Hospitalist to join our established practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We offer a nationally competitive salary with relocation allowance available, CME allowance and fully paid malpractice insurance.
Practice Highlights- 24/7 inpatient care for children with both routine and complex medical conditions.
- Pediatric sedation service, sedating pediatric patients for noninvasive medical procedures and imaging studies
- In-person and telemedicine consultative services for our on-site emergency department(s), urgent care locations and outlying facilities
- In addition to pediatric care, we manage a newborn nursery, attend high-risk deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitation/stabilization as needed.

- 24x7 intensivist support provided by NICU and PICU.
- Thriving pediatric subspecialty group including pediatric cardiology, endocrinology (ADA recognized diabetes program), GI, nephrology, neurology, pediatric surgery, behavioral medicine, pulmonology, hematology/oncology, and chronic care.

Oversees and is accountable for the overall quality of care and clinical outcomes within the assigned facilities.
Ensures both patient and provider satisfaction and develops plans for improvement.
Provides input into the hospitalist team's financial, clinical, and service quality performance; budget; capital plan; and personnel issues.
Organizes, attends, and facilitates daily care team meetings within the assigned facility.
Attends and participates in all regular scheduled hospitalist meetings.
Attends and participates in requested QI, Peer Review and Care Management meetings.
Attends and participates in Sub-specialist/Medical group meetings as requested.
Provides real time feedback to PCPs regarding clinical and operational guidelines to optimize patient care and clinical efficiency.
Maintains coding and encounter data standards for completeness, accuracy, timeliness and reimbursement level, including legible documentation.
Meets and maintains all provider credentialing and QI standards.
Participates in the development, adoption, and implementation process for clinical standards for inpatient care.
Knowledgeable of the contents of The Hospitalist Manual:
An Evidence-Based Approach to Medicine.
Works with the Medical Director to assure proper provider staffing, including vacation coverage.
Mentors and educates all new Pediatric Hospitalists on PMG's service standards.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, literature review, in-services, and workshops.
Performs other functions as required.
