Target Pay Range/Rate: $23.565 per hour or $49,015.20 annually
The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court is recruiting for a full-time, permanent Judicial Specialist Lead worker in the Courtroom Support Division in Albuquerque, NM.
Responsibilities- Essential position; employee is on call and may be required to work weekends and holidays and during other court closures. Overtime is frequently required when court is in session beyond normally scheduled working hours.
- Under general direction, participate in the clerical, technical, analytical and administrative duties involved in case processing, file maintenance, case management and the clerical business of the court through the application of knowledge of statutes, rules, regulations and court or program procedures, as well as through the application of knowledge of human relations skills.
- As a lead worker, oversee judicial specialists by assigning and checking work and evaluating ongoing work; supervise with the ability to work with large volumes of work under high stress situations while multitasking.
- Knowledge of civil and criminal procedures and a thorough knowledge of judicial specialist duties and responsibilities. Monitor compliance with established court rules and procedures.
- Participate in evaluations; train and serve on interview panels. Order and maintain supplies and leave records. Maintain statistics and assist the public. Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs of the Court.
- Maintain and operate case management systems including opening, docketing, updating, linking scanned documents, closing cases, and entering events and disposition details.
- Process and expedite Orders of Protection; set hearings and trials.
- Manage financial transactions: receive, record, reconcile monies; prepare bank deposits; ensure proper cash handling procedures.
- Process, maintain, and distribute documents, files, and case materials; handle petitions for Trial Court Extensions of time.
- Manage cases to ensure compliance with case types, appearance dates, sentencing requirements; track with related steps (orders to show cause, bench warrants, recusals, pleadings, rule extensions).
- Serve as liaison with court staff, state agencies and the public; verify qualifications forms and questionnaires are properly completed.
- Schedule jurors and create jury panels; maintain jury calendars and manage call-ins or robocall systems.
- Maintain cash tills and ensure court fees are accurately assessed, paid, receipted, and recorded; disburse bond payments and trust funds; prepare bond reports.
- Ensure the office, equipment, and courtrooms are operational; research and analyze case management issues; audit and correct case files as needed.
- May serve as information systems site coordinator or backup to site coordinator; oversee microphotography standards; ensure exhibits comply with retention schedules.
- Perform purchasing duties; provide victims with resource and advocacy information.
- Assist with jury administration; review, sort, and organize jury summons; prepare alpha/ random lists, voir dire sheet, and seating charts for jury trials.
- Maintain judicial calendars and schedules; certify court records and prepare hard copy case files with tape logs and transcripts for microfilming, scanning, archiving, and destruction.
- Create case tracking numbers and barcodes; image case documents in the case management system; respond to public records requests.
- Coordinate program participation with Specialty Programs; analyze court docket operations to improve processes; may undertake supervisory duties under supervision.
- Provide direction and assistance to subordinate staff; participate in short/long-term planning; may serve as Court Monitor; may serve as courtroom clerk and assist with signatures and document distribution.
- Provide support to other magistrate or district courts within the judicial district.
- Other duties as assigned.
