Construction Accountant (Sage 300 CRE / Timberline)

Location:

Albuquerque, NM

Pay Range: $35.00-$38.50/hr (depending on experience)

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Accountant to join a well-established construction firm in Albuquerque. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction-specific accounting, advanced proficiency in Sage 300 CRE (Timberline), and the ability to manage job costing, billing, and project financials in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple construction projects

Perform detailed job costing, budget monitoring, and variance analysis

Prepare and process progress billing, AIA billing, retainage, and subcontractor payments

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, bank accounts, and project accounts

Oversee AP/AR related to construction activities

Enter, track, and analyze data within Sage 300 CRE (Timberline)

Prepare month-end financials and assist with audits

Verify compliance with contract terms, lien releases, and billing schedules

Collaborate closely with project managers and leadership on financial reporting

Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reports for projects and overhead

Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency in all accounting processes

Qualifications

3+ years of construction accounting experience required

Must have strong proficiency with Sage 300 CRE (Timberline)

Solid understanding of job costing, progress billing, and construction financial workflows

Experience with AIA billing formats and retainage

Strong Excel and general accounting software skills

High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction accounting.

- Proficiency in Sage 300 (Timberline) is essential.

- Strong knowledge of job costing, progress billing, and construction-specific financial workflows.

- Familiarity with retainage and billing formats used in the construction industry.

- Advanced skills in Excel and general accounting software.

- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data effectively.

- Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with diverse teams.
