Press Assistant (Manufacturing)
Summary:
The employee is responsible for performing a variety of jobs in a safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing processes and assisting in the daily operations. The incumbent will be involved in manufacturing of flexographic flexible packaging by assisting the Press Operator.
- Assist the Press Operator with the set-up according to job order, including changing sleeves, anilox, doctor blades and seal and preparing ink; perform press-related tasks per standard operating procedures, cycle time pace, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Clean down the press by washing the printing decks, wiping down the decks, and cleaning the anilox.
- Place return labels on ink and return to the proper location; load rolls of film onto the unwind turret of the press.
- Unload printed rolls onto the pallet and label; clean press parts for reuse when needed.
- Cut cores to the appropriate length and verify the job order; prepare ink, ink system, and sleeves for the next order.
- Visually identify non-conforming product and fill out necessary paperwork.
- Attend and participate in prepress meetings; perform duties as assigned by Management.

- Manual dexterity – move hands quickly to grasp, manipulate, or assemble.
- Extent Flexibility – bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
- Trunk Strength – repeatedly or continuously use abdominal and lower back muscles.
- Static Strength – lift/push/pull/carry objects up to 70 pounds on rare basis; 21-50 pounds occasionally; up to 20 pounds frequently. A 2-person lift is required for anything over 50 pounds.
- Stamina and dynamic strength for long periods of standing and production activity; coordination of limbs and overall body movement.
- Multi-limb and gross body coordination; ability to communicate effectively to maintain safety.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to varying temperatures, fumes, and loud noise in the manufacturing environment, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee must follow company safety procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment on the production floor.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Education:
GED or High School Diploma preferred. - Experience:
2+ years in a manufacturing setting preferred. - Demonstrable cognitive ability to read words and numbers in English, follow verbal and written instructions in English, and work independently; ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) to 1/16.
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team with minimal supervision; willingness to work overtime and under deadlines.
- Adherence to standard work processes and established quality standards; familiarity with safety policies and maintaining a safe, organized work area.
- Basic working knowledge of personal computers and office machinery; openness to feedback and continuous learning.
