Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a day shift ICU position requiring BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and floating within a multi-facility region.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital ICU with 10 ICU beds and 4 PCU beds, PCU only used during surge
- Patient population includes sepsis, COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI, NSTEMI, stroke, TIA, cardiac arrhythmias, DKA, minor trauma, ETOH withdrawal, ARDS, and respiratory illnesses
- RN-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2-3, depending on acuity
- May care for a mix of ICU and Med/Tele patients
- Day shift schedule is 12 hours, 07:00–19:00; every other weekend required
- No on-call or call back requirements
- Required to float within Region 1 facilities as needed, including ICU, Med/Tele, PCU, ED holds, and Behavioral Health (med pass only)
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Travelers are required to work 75% of holidays
- Orientation includes new employee orientation and 2–3 days of departmental onboarding
- Team includes charge RNs, house supervisor, support from RT 24/7, and phlebotomy, with limited CNA and IV/VAT team support overnight
- Navy scrubs required with white or navy undershirts; no T-shirts or Crocs allowed

- Unit culture emphasizes teamwork, open communication, and receptiveness to feedback
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of recent ICU RN experience required
- Experience with stroke care, NIH assessments, cardiac rhythm interpretation, ART lines, CVPs, critical care drips, vent and trach care, NGT placement, and medication titration
- Ability to complete 12-lead EKGs and manage complex equipment and procedures
