Summary: The Assistant Administrator supports the Administrator in the overall leadership, operations, and regulatory compliance of the Community. This role provides clinical oversight and operational support for resident care services, team member coordination, and daily community functions for the 30 licensed beds. The Assistant Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality resident outcomes, compliance with state and federal regulations, and a positive living environment by integrating nursing expertise with operational leadership.
In the absence of the Administrator, this role may assume delegated leadership responsibilities as assigned.
- Graduate of accredited Nursing Program, required
- Actively registered with the North Carolina Board of Nursing (or compact state), and in good standing, required
- Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Associates Degree in Nursing
- Minimum of one year of progressive nursing leadership experience in long-term care, assisted living, or a related healthcare setting
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of assisted living regulations, resident care standards, and nursing practice
- Strong understanding of resident assessments, care planning, and service coordination
- Ability to provide clinical oversight and guidance to care team
- Demonstrated leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication with residents, families, team members, regulators, physicians, physician offices, pharmacies, home health personnel, and agencies
- Ability to manage priorities in a dynamic residential care environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate, resident-centered approach
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Supervises team members in the all departments when on-call or in the absence of the Administrator
- Leadership & Community Operations
- Assist the Administrator in overseeing daily operations of the Assisted Living community
- Serve as the Administrator’s designee as assigned, supporting continuity of leadership
- Promote a culture of respect, accountability, and resident-centered care
- Collaborate with department leaders to ensure coordinated service delivery
- During times of inclement weather, be present at the community to assist with resident care
- Resident Care & Clinical Oversight
- Provide nursing oversight for resident care services in accordance with scope of licensure
- Participate in resident assessments, care planning, and service plan updates
- Monitor resident health status and coordinate with providers, pharmacies, and external services
- Support medication management practices in compliance with regulations and policy
- Respond to resident concerns, incidents, and clinical issues promptly and appropriately
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Support compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing assisted living
- Assist with surveys, inspections, audits, and corrective action planning
- Ensure resident rights, safety, and dignity are maintained at all times
- Monitor infection control, safety, and risk management practices
- Team Member Support & Supervision
- Provide guidance, coaching, and clinical direction to care team members
- Support staffing coordination, scheduling, and coverage as needed
- Assist with onboarding, training, and competency validation for care team members
- Participate in performance feedback and disciplinary processes as delegated
- Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain open communication with residents and families to address needs and concerns
- Partner with the Administrator to ensure timely and transparent communication
- Document and report incidents, concerns, and operational updates appropriately
- Compliance & Professional Accountability
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including HIPAA and the Code of Conduct, completing required training and reporting concerns promptly
- Maintain current license and required certifications
- Perform other duties as assigned to support community operations
