Overview
ENVIROMENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST 1
Environmental Health Program (Classification 701)
SEIU Represented Full Time Position (37.5 hours/week)
This position is open until filled.

Linn County requires on-site work. Remote work is not available.
Responsibilities- Working primarily in the areas of retail food protection, safe drinking water, and VECTOR control.
- Responsibilities may also include communicable disease control, community outreach and education, consultation with individuals, groups and organizations, and investigation and enforcement of environmental complaints and regulations.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental health; knowledge of the laws and administrative rules governing the environmental health programs of the State; ability to make thorough investigations, compile data, and present clear, concise reports; ability to promote awareness of, and participation toward the correction of public health problems among the general public; ability to plan and organize work effectively;
knowledge of the methods and equipment used by the industries and any other phase of the social structure in which the program is concerned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life or Physical Sciences, Environmental/Public Health or related field, or equivalent experience and training as determined by the Environmental Health Registration Board.
- Two years’ experience in environmental health work.
- This position will be a Registered Environmental Health Specialist in the State of Oregon.
- This is a non-supervisory position. Lead work and coordination of work of others is not a typical function assigned to this position. Incumbents in this position may provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel.
- Must be able to pass a criminal history check and possess or obtain a valid Oregon driver's license with an acceptable driving record that meets the County's requirements.
