K-12 SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM DIRECTOR

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Special Education provides supportive, collaborative leadership to a skilled multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality special education services, evaluations, and regional support to children and students with disabilities across Linn, Benton, and Lincoln Counties. The Director of K–12 Special Education oversees services to LBLESD customers and provides collaborative leadership to staff, fostering positive, effective service delivery and continual improvement. In close partnership with component school districts, the Director aligns programs to local needs while promoting equity, inclusion, and professional growth, ensuring district staff and students receive high-quality, responsive, and legally compliant services.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) district-level administrative license or ability to obtain.
  • Master’s Degree in Special Education or education related field required.
  • Minimum of three years successful experience in the supervision or administration of special education staff and programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessment and evaluation, consultation, direct and indirect services.
  • Experience leading others in an educational organization to build staff capacity, strengthen organizational systems, and promote individual performance and professional growth.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience building and sustaining collaborative partnerships across organizations and stakeholder groups.
  • Leadership experience at the school building, district, regional, and/or state level.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent and/or Board of Directors.
