POOL PT Faculty, Physics

Position Overview

Physical Sciences Department, Linn-Benton Community College (LBCC) is recruiting part‑time instructors for courses in physics and related sciences. Applications will be reviewed on an as‑needed basis and qualified candidates will be contacted when positions become available.

• Unofficial Academic Transcript showing qualifying degree
• Veteran Status Documentation (if applicable)

• Develop and deliver classroom lectures, laboratory activities, and out‑of‑class assignments aligned with approved course outlines.
• Plan, develop, and deliver engaging laboratory exercises for non‑science majors.
• Write tests, evaluate student progress, and maintain accurate grade and attendance records.
• Maintain and clean laboratory equipment; enforce departmental safety regulations.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

• Master’s degree or at least 27 graduate quarter hours in physics.
• One year of broad‑based teaching experience at high school, community college, or university level is preferred.
• Ability to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, and abilities.

• Strong communication skills in oral and written English.
• Experience with course scheduling and syllabus development.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and handle equipment safely.
• Normal hearing and speaking skills for communication with staff and students.
• Visual acuity sufficient to read and operate laboratory equipment.
• Seventy percent or more of duties involve standing; work may be performed after hours or on weekends.

Courses are paid on a per‑credit basis. New part‑time faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, which may roll once per term if eligible.
