POSITION SUMMARY:
Koester Associates, a trusted leader in the water and wastewater treatment industry for over 50 years, is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrician to join our team. This position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems that support water and wastewater collection and treatment equipment at municipal and industrial facilities.
As a key member of our service team, the Electrician plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of essential infrastructure-supporting our mission to deliver high-quality service and solutions to our clients. Koester Associates proudly serves municipalities and industrial clients across New York State and Northern New Jersey, providing dependable equipment, parts, and service solutions. KEY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an electrical apprenticeship or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an electrician; experience in the water/wastewater treatment industry strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in field environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout New York State (including NYC and Long Island), with frequent overnight stays and occasional emergency callouts.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing pumps, motors, controls, and related process equipment.
- Strong understanding of NEC, electrical safety standards, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in the use of electrical testing tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as needed.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Problem Solving:
Effectively diagnoses and resolves electrical and control system issues. - Technical Aptitude:
Applies advanced electrical knowledge to ensure reliable system operation. - Safety Mindset:
Consistently follows NEC, OSHA, and company safety protocols. - Attention to Detail:
Maintains accurate documentation and ensures quality workmanship. - Collaboration & Communication:
Works effectively with team members, managers, and clients to achieve results. - Reliability:
Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, and commitment to service excellence.
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, SCADA systems, and three-phase 480V/220V electrical systems.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
- OSHA 10/30 certification or equivalent safety training.
- Water or wastewater operator certification.

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive pay structure, $80,000-$100,000 dependent on qualifications and experience, with NYS Prevailing Wages applied when applicable
