Position SummaryKoester Associates, a trusted leader in the water and wastewater treatment industry for over 50 years, is seeking a skilled and motivated Water/Wastewater Service Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining water and wastewater collection and treatment equipment and systems at municipal and industrial facilities. As part of our service team, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliable operation of essential systems that keep our communities’ water clean and safe.

Key Duties and Essential Functions- Technical Expertise:
Demonstrates strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to install, inspect, maintain, and repair pumps, blowers, filtration systems, and control equipment. - Preventative Maintenance Mindset:
Proactively identifies maintenance needs and performs regular inspections to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. - Problem Solving & Diagnostics:
Accurately assesses issues with mechanical, electrical, or control systems and applies effective, timely solutions. - Field Service Agility:
Responds efficiently to service calls, including emergency repairs and equipment start‑ups, while providing on‑site operator training as needed. - Attention to Detail & Documentation:
Maintains thorough and accurate service records, parts usage logs, and condition reports to support traceability and service quality. - Team
Collaboration:
Works effectively with the Service Manager, Service Coordinator, and fellow technicians to coordinate schedules, share knowledge, and deliver seamless customer support. - Safety & Compliance:
Consistently follows safety protocols and regulatory standards, ensuring a secure work environment for self and others. - Customer Focus & Professionalism:
Builds and sustains positive client relationships through clear communication, dependable service, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or related fields preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or field service work.
- Experience in the water/wastewater treatment industry strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in field environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout New York State (including NYC and Long Island), with frequent overnight stays.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing pumps, motors, controls, and process equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and adherence to safety practices.
- Valid driver’s license required.

- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and SCADA systems.
- Water or wastewater operator certification.
- OSHA safety training or equivalent certifications.
- Competitive pay structure, $80,000‑$100,000 dependent on qualifications and experience, with NYS Prevailing Wages applied when applicable
