Position: Salesperson/Store Driver  Store 8601
Location: City of Albany

Position Overview

Entry‑level Salesperson and Store Driver roles at Advance Auto Parts support the DIY business, deliver parts to commercial customers, and enhance store operations. Positions may be full‑time or part‑time and require fleet safety certification.

Primary Responsibilities – Salesperson
  • Provide an excellent selling experience for DIY customers during visits and phone calls.
  • Achieve personal sales goals and help the store meet its sales objectives.
  • Perform DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper blade installs.
  • Maintain store product and operational standards.
  • Manage inventory processes including truck putaway, shoot‑outs, cycle counts, and back‑stock.
Secondary Responsibilities – Salesperson
  • Keep the store clean (floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot).
  • Stock general items including truck stocking and back‑stock.
  • Safely deliver parts to customers as needed.
Success Factors – Salesperson
  • Basic driving and navigation ability.
  • Ability to use a delivery board system.
  • Friendly communication skills.
  • Ability to locate and stock parts.
  • Safety knowledge and skills.
  • Operating inventory systems and store equipment.
  • Parts and automotive system knowledge.
  • Operating POS and parts lookup systems.
  • Expertise in testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY service.
Essential

Job Skills – Salesperson
  • Speak and write English;
    Spanish a plus.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.
  • Use basic math accurately (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Prior Experience – Salesperson Success
  • 2‑3 years of successful sales experience in a diverse retail environment, providing superior customer experiences.
Primary Responsibilities – Store Driver
  • Safely deliver parts to customers as needed.
  • Pick and stage parts for customer orders.
  • Pick up returns and cores.
  • Drop off weekly/monthly sales flyer.
  • Daily collection of credit accounts.
Secondary Responsibilities – Store Driver
  • Keep the store clean (floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot).
  • Stock general items including truck stocking and back‑stock.
Success Factors – Store Driver
  • Basic driving and navigation ability.
  • Ability to use a delivery board system.

  • Work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Prior Experience – Store Driver Success
  • Automotive parts experience is preferred.
  • Certificates, licenses, registrations.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be fleet safety certified.
Physical Demands

The employee will predominantly walk or stand. The employee must lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. The employee must reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The employee is usually working inside; occasionally outside and exposed to weather conditions while performing tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.

Compensation

15.95 USD per hour – 16.95 USD per hour
