The Cook will be responsible for meal preparation in accordance with prescribed diets and planned menus. Responsibilities include shopping for food and supplies, maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary kitchen and dining area, including kitchen equipment, in accordance with agency standards and regulations. Maintain a clean and organized pantry/food storage area. Other duties may include inventory checks, attending meetings and trainings as needed and menu planning.
The Cook will be assigned a minimal amount of personal care responsibilities, but may need to play a greater role if the program is short-staffed. On average, the Cook will spend approximately 75% of the scheduled shift on meal preparation and 25% with Direct Support Professional responsibilities.
The candidate should have some cooking experience and organizational skills. The ability to learn, follow a menu and work independently is required. The candidate needs to be a self-starter, able to create a menu and shop accordingly within the budget. Experience working with people with disabilities is a plus. High School Diploma/GED is required. Proof will need to be provided prior to employment.
Valid NYS Driver's license is required.
