Albany Medical Center Hospital is a Level 1 adult trauma center and Children’s Hospital that serves not only our local community, but a great deal of upstate NY and parts of Vermont.

Unit Specifics:

18 licensed critical care beds, all private rooms. Adult patient population.

Health care team comprised of RNs, PCAs (patient care associates), HUCs (unit coordinators), Nurse Managers, Respiratory Therapists, Pulmonary Critical Care Attendings, Fellows, Interns, and Residents, as well as a variety of students (i.e., medical, nursing, respiratory, CRNA).

Necessary equipment for providing continuous close care includes, but is not limited to, bedside monitors with remote viewing capability, mechanical ventilators, computers in all patient rooms, ceiling lifts for safe transferring of patients, carts in patient rooms filled with supplies to aid bedside care, and numerous other items to ensure the best patient outcomes.

EPIC Clinicals Electronic Health Record is utilized for charting and organizing testing and procedural data.

Flexibility of daytime, evening, or night shifts.

Albany Medical Center has a Critical Care Float Pool available to fulfill emergent staffing needs in the ICUs. ICU RNs float to other critical care units and step-down ICU within the hospital as well.
