The Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU) has a combined total of 30 intensive care beds designed to provide specialized care to the critically ill adult (14 and older) patient. The unit has a usual 50/50 split of patient population between the neuro and surgical patient population. The focus of care includes patients with life‑threatening conditions related to major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi‑trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi‑organ system failure, hemodynamic instability and failure to wean.

The SICU and Neuro ICU patient needs encompass comprehensive physical assessments, intensive monitoring, treatment of laboratory values, ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring. Procedures performed on unit: placement of arterial line, central line, external ventricular drain, ICP monitor, SEPS drain, bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washout, tracheostomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, pigtail drains.

• Registered Nurse, ICU
• SSN and DOB required
• 1 Reference in full work history; one reference within past 12 months from manager or supervisor
• MUST have competency with EVDs, bolts, ICP management and experience with trauma and complex surgical patients
• Competency test required within 48 hours of submission; provide up‑to‑date email at time of submission
• MUST have recent Trauma Level One experience
• 1.5 years of 600+ bed academic hospital experience or 2 years of total (traveling + permanent) experience
• EPIC Experience
• Trauma levels must be included on every work entry; work history must be updated to current date
