Unit Specifics – Med Surg/Medicine E3: 5 RNs, 3 PCA and a unit secretary; equipment includes PCA pump, IV pump, Kangaroo pump, wound vac, chest tubes; documentation system:
Cerner Soarian; scheduling: 3 12-hour shifts plus every third weekend; floating policy: to areas with competency; AMC internal float team.

Unit Specifics – Med Surg/Medicine E4: 36-bed unit; staffing includes unit secretaries and techs; equipment includes BP machines, IV pumps, wound vacs, PCA pain control pumps, PAPRs, telemetry, pulse oximeter; documentation:
Soarian and MAK; scheduling:
Every other weekend, every other Friday, and every other holiday; floating: to areas with competency; hospital specifics:
Academic Medical Center, Level 1 trauma center (adult);
Children’s Hospital within a hospital; significant procedures include central line placement, paracentesis, wound vac placement; certifications: BLS required;
Medical-Surgical certification encouraged.

Med Surg FLOAT POOL – 766 licensed beds; cross-disciplinary collaboration; equipment includes wound vac, EKG monitoring, advanced neuro assessments; scheduling: every other weekend; weekend block options; floating policy: to areas with competency; patient experience requirements: flexibility across patient populations; advanced skills: float to 22 different medical and surgical units; hospital specifics:
Academic Medical Center, Level 1 trauma center (adult/pediatrics);
Children’s Hospital within a hospital.

Med Surg/Ortho – 22 private rooms; staffing: RN’s, PCA’s, ASA’s, NP’s, Nurse clinicians; equipment includes wound vacs, traction, IV pumps, chest tubes, NG, trach collars, feeding pumps, Vioptix, suction, medical air, O2, infusers, PCA pumps; documentation:
Sorian, MAK (medications), HEV (bed mgmt.), Pyxis, Vocera; scheduling:
All shifts; floating: to areas with competency; hospital specifics:
Academic Medical Center, Level 1 trauma center (adult);
Children’s Hospital within a hospital.
