The Registered Professional Nurse assesses, coordinates, plans, directs, implements, and manages the needs of assigned patients throughout the episode of care, focusing on progress toward discharge, including during transitions within the acute care stay. The nurse is responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team, ensuring competent, compassionate care is provided to patients, referring facilities, and hospital staff in inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.
HourlyRange:
$34.65 - $35.69
- Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures, and tests, and documents treatments as required by policy and regulations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
- Assesses and evaluates patient needs and responses to care.
- Uses sound nursing judgment in care management decisions.
- Provides primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses.
- Administers medications as ordered.
- Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
- Directs and guides ancillary personnel, maintaining professional standards.
- Graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Degree).
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Previous experience as a PCA or nursing assistant preferred.
- Commitment to continuing education to improve performance.
- Knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools, with ability to apply them in quality improvement.
Description:
The Medical Cardiology unit has 29 beds, including 1 private room, 13 semi-private rooms, and one 4-bedroom. Patients are admitted from various sources including the Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, CCU, MICU, physician offices, and other facilities. The patient population includes adult to geriatric patients with cardiac and medical diagnoses, most requiring telemetry monitoring after cardiac procedures.
