The Nurse Clinician is a role that combines direct patient care with leadership responsibilities to support a high-performing nursing team. Responsibilities include developing systems that promote staff involvement in practice, research, education, and quality improvement, fostering a collaborative environment where nurses practice at the highest level of licensure.
The Nurse Clinician participates in developing and implementing orientation and continuing education programs for specialty nursing, with outcomes linked to quality and patient care results.
This role requires expertise in a specific patient care specialty, gained through clinical experience, study, and supervision at the master's or doctoral level. The Nurse Clinician is responsible for developing practice standards, staff development, regulatory compliance, and research to improve patient care quality. As an advanced practitioner, they manage complex patient and system issues.
