NYACS seeks a Director of Member Engagement to join a small team and serve as the primary liaison between members, industry partners, and external stakeholders in government, regulatory affairs, and public relations. This full-time role manages and strengthens member relationships, drives communication and engagement, and contributes to association management tasks such as events, membership services, and systems management. The position reports directly to the association President and works closely with NYACS’ contracted public relations and government relations firms.
Key Responsibilities Member Recruitment and Retention- Identify prospective members and lead renewal campaigns
- Welcome and onboard new members
- Engage members through direct communication and participation in events
- Stay informed on legislative and regulatory issues relevant to members
- Collaborate with leadership and government affairs partners to ensure consistent messaging
- Communicate policy updates clearly and effectively to members through publications, presentations, and meetings
- Support advocacy efforts by preparing materials and coordinating member engagement when needed
- Manage website, database, and email communications to optimize member value
- Contribute content to NYACS publications and communications
- Oversee social media presence and media awareness efforts
- Coordinate meeting content, presentations, and reporting
- Support planning and execution of the annual trade show, fall conference, and other events
- Assist in general association management at the discretion of the President
- Work with colleagues to ensure the successful execution of programs and services
- Engaging personality and excellent communication skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to work across diverse groups
- Strong computer proficiency, including fluency with database management and email marketing platforms
- Social media and media awareness skills
- Basic understanding of New York State governance and politics
- Experience in trade association or nonprofit management
- Event coordination and meeting facilitation experience
- Strong organizational skills and ability to learn quickly
- Salary range: $60,000–$70,000, based on experience
- Health insurance coverage
- SIMPLE IRA with 3% match
- Travel up to four times per year
