Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing projects related to community engagement and clean energy policy. The role involves technical expertise, creativity, leadership, and communication skills to develop and coordinate programs supporting clean energy initiatives and community relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Provide general guidance based on 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Develop and apply technical principles related to the program area.
  • Manage projects independently, initiate new projects and funding sources.
  • Lead project development through competitive solicitation phases.
  • Implement projects timely and prioritize workload.
  • Lead working groups or program teams; supervise junior staff and interns.
  • Produce written materials and presentations, negotiate with contractors and external contacts.
  • Prepare and present papers at professional meetings and conferences.
  • Cultivate and maintain working relationships with community stakeholders.
  • Organize and lead consultation and engagement meetings.
  • Manage meeting logistics, invitations, scheduling, and follow-ups.
  • Maintain community contact lists and ensure compliance with protocols.
  • Support development of engagement strategies and policies.
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders and interagency partners.
  • Research and consult external resources to aid engagement efforts.
  • Develop resources on community priorities and governance.
  • Plan cultural competency training in coordination with diversity initiatives.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and represent the organization at events.
  • Assist other staff with program areas as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years of experience in community engagement and clean energy policy or comparable work experience.
  • Knowledge and experience conducting community engagements with historically marginalized communities and Indigenous Peoples.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Critical thinking, collaboration, and continuous learning skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lived experience as a member of an Indigenous community.
  • Experience with environmental and social justice issues.
  • Understanding of Indigenous Nations and cultures.
  • Deep knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories, protocols, and contemporary issues.
  • Familiarity with policies, legislation, and resources related to Indigenous affairs.
Certifications
  • Training available on Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, knowledge bases, and contracts/financial record systems.
