Disaster Preparedness Program Representative 1 (NY HELPS)

Base pay range: $53,764.00/yr – $68,630.00/yr

Duties
  • Assist in maintaining credentialing and training requirements for team members.
  • Plan and coordinate the movement of the team to assigned missions and training.
  • Deploy as a member of the State Incident Management team (IMT).
  • Utilize DHSES Learning Management System (LMS) to coordinate and track IMT specific training courses.
  • Provide team members with information on training and deployment opportunities.
  • Prepare course materials for scheduled classes.
  • Manage training supply needs.
  • Manage the team NET card in support of team operations.
  • Assist in developing cost estimates for planned training.
  • Track team availability through bi-weekly surveys.
  • Review and process applications for IMT membership.
  • Facilitate team conference calls as needed.
  • Review and update the IMT Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Inspect and maintain IMT equipment.
  • Travel may be required, approximately 20%, including during evenings and weekends, depending on assignment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Four years of emergency management experience coordinating and implementing emergency management and disaster preparedness programs.
  • Experience preparing, modifying, and presenting disaster educational training and/or exercises.
  • Gathering and analyzing information to produce briefings or reports for timely incident response decisions.
  • Representing an agency or organization in an Emergency Operations Center or leadership position on the Incident Command System.
  • Managing or supervising logistics operations during a major emergency or disaster by overseeing distribution or staging of equipment and supplies.
  • Associate degree in a related field can substitute for two years of specialized experience; bachelor’s degree can substitute for four years of experience.
