IT Support, Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, Systems Engineer
CTG is seeking to fill a Data Center Support Generalist position for our client.
Location: Albany, NY
Duration: Ongoing contract
Duties:
Provide server support for Windows and Linux environments, ensuring high availability and performance
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers
Support end-user computing devices, including laptops running Windows and Linux operating systems
Perform system patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance activities
Monitor server health, system logs, and performance metrics; proactively address issues
Assist with user account management, permissions, and access controls
Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
Work within a data center environment, including rack/stack, hardware diagnostics, and equipment replacement
Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and security teams to resolve technical issues
Skills:
Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration
Experience with Linux server administration (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, or similar distributions)
Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and system security best practices
Experience supporting laptops and endpoint devices in enterprise environments
Understanding of virtualization technologies and data center operations
Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, OS, and network-related issues
Knowledge of backup solutions and system monitoring tools
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Experience:
3+ years of experience in server administration and technical support roles
Hands-on experience in Windows and Linux server environments
Prior data center experience, including physical hardware support
Experience supporting enterprise-level infrastructure environments preferred
Education:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred
Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Linux, CompTIA) are a plus
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
