Trigyn's direct government client has an immediate need for a Cognos Reports Writer/Developer in Albany, NY.

Description:

Under the supervision and guidance of the PMO and Project Manager, the Cognos reporting specialist will collaborate with technical staff, Business Analysts, and program/business office members to perform various reporting tasks, including:

• Document and prioritize business reporting requirements and respond to report requests and issues.
• Analyze requirements, develop/configure, test, and deploy Cognos BI models, reports, and dashboards.
• Convert existing EZSpec reports into Cognos reports.
• Facilitate meetings with business teams to understand reporting needs and pain points.
• Create and maintain report distribution calendars.
• Develop KPIs, scorecards, and visualizations.
• Ensure data quality and integrity through testing and documentation.
• Conduct deep dive sessions for problem-solving.
• Perform data mining for insights to support decision-making.
• Apply knowledge of database management, data warehousing, and reporting design concepts.
• Contribute to reporting standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with teams to prioritize reporting needs.
• Review report rules and parameters for quality assurance.
• Identify and meet BI training needs.
• Train team members and develop help guides.
• Evaluate operational needs and recommend reporting solutions.
• Develop complex reports and dashboards with formulas, calculations, and data structures.
• Utilize scripting and programming languages for data extraction and transformation.
• Enhance visual presentation of reports.
• Resolve production issues promptly and ensure report performance.
• Manage reporting requirements in a hybrid environment.
• Participate in design discussions, stand-ups, and planning sessions.
• Become a reporting SME and business advisor.
• Support QA/testing with test plans, cases, and validation.

Mandatory

Qualifications:

• Experience in IT, supporting development platforms and business applications.
• Ability to guide large teams and extensive industry experience.
• 72 months of experience as a Cognos Reports Writer/Developer with cross-functional teams, including model and report development.
• 60 months of experience with Cognos BI version 11.1.7+ in configuration, security, architecture, and administration.
• 84 months experience with database systems like Oracle, SQL Server, including T-SQL, stored procedures, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with analytics, API integrations, dashboards delivery using Cognos, Power BI, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS.
• 72 months of experience in report testing, validation, and defect tracking.
• Support experience with tools like Unisys Agile Business Suite, Tableau, Talend, etc.
• Experience delivering Cognos BI training and developing user guides.
• 36 months of experience with Crystal Reports, Talend, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Relevant certifications such as IBM Cognos BI, Power BI, SQL Server, Cloud/CRM reporting, or Project Management Professional.
