Job OverviewThe Data Analyst 1 will work in the Office of Public Health’s Vital Records in the Data Management and Analytics Unit. In this role the incumbent will transform available data into meaningful insights, reports, and visualizations to support department initiatives and improve public health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Transform raw data into clear insights, reports, and visualizations for Department of Health stakeholders.
- Apply data mining, data engineering, data cleaning, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning techniques.
- Use analytical programming languages, statistical and mathematical computations, and visualization software to analyze data sets.
- Present results through visualizations, summaries, and reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in data visualization, statistical modeling, and data mining tools or completion of a two‑year traineeship.
- Master’s degree substitutes one year of specialized experience;
Ph.D. substitutes two years of specialized experience.
- At least two years of proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or SAS and visualization software such as Tableau, SAS BI, or Power BI.
- Experience with machine learning, predictive analysis, data engineering processes, cloud integration, and new AI tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical topics to non‑technical stakeholders and work well in a team.
