Network Support Engineer
Location: Albany, NY
Employment type: Contract to Hire
Pay Range: $50.00-$70.00/hr (hourly)
Join TEKsystems as a Network Support Engineer to maintain and secure hybrid network environments spanning on‑prem Cisco/Meraki and Azure cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Deploy, configure, and maintain Cisco routers, switches, Meraki access points, and firewalls.
- Design and implement Azure virtual networks, VPN gateways, Express Route, Site‑to‑Site VPNs, and Meraki SD‑WAN.
- Monitor network performance using Azure Network Watcher and Meraki Dashboard; troubleshoot connectivity incidents.
- Update firmware, manage licenses, and document topology, configurations, and runbooks.
- Collaborate with IT service desk and infrastructure teams on cloud and on‑prem deployment and configuration.
- Train junior staff on network operations, cloud connectivity, and security best practices.
- Maintain compliance with Zero Trust Networking and Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework principles.
- Manage vendor relationships and coordinate subcontractor activities for network projects.
- 3–5 years of experience as a network support engineer or network administrator.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco and Meraki networking, including Layer 2/3 switching, routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP), and firewall administration.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure networking: VNets, NSGs, Express Route, VPN Gateway, Private Link, Application Gateway, and Azure Firewall.
- Experience with Windows Server, cloud patching, scripting (Power Shell, Azure CLI, or Python), and desktop support.
- Hands‑on physical maintenance of data‑center and network‑closet environments.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills for complex networking and connectivity issues.
- Strong communication skills; ability to explain technical solutions to non‑technical audiences.
