ResponsibilitiesThe Patient Access Specialist is responsible for capturing demographic and insurance information either by telephone or in person, using eligibility applications to verify insurance, interpret responses, and record accurate details. The role requires understanding and applying contractual benefits to services rendered, conducting financial discussions with patients regarding payment responsibility, and collecting the appropriate financial obligation based on eligibility or estimates.

- Collect financial responsibility based on eligibility response or estimate for services.
- Education:
Associates preferred. - Licensure/Certification: CHAA (or acquired within 2 years of hire).
- Experience:
3–5 years in a hospital or physician office setting; strong computer skills. - Insurance knowledge of payer contract interpretation, including authorization requirements and setting of care.
- Strong customer service skills; ability to exceed expectations.
- Ability to multitask and handle high patient volume under tight time frames.
- Proficient with ADT system and encounter correction.
- Ability to learn in classroom setting and utilize resources.
- Remain composed under pressure.
- Review information and draw appropriate conclusions.
- Good judgment; resourceful problem solving; escalation as needed.
- Team‑oriented work ethic.
- Interpret patient insurance benefits and apply contractual obligations.
- Critical thinking regarding financial payment security.
- Discuss sensitive financial concepts with patients.
