OverviewThe Financial Analyst/Budget Analyst will play an integral role in assisting the Finance unit in day-to-day, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, translating such into meaningful financial results and projections for management decision making.
InteractionThis position interacts on a regular basis with management team, program staff, and other internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Manager Notes- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, x and v lookups IF function, etc.).
- Eager, team player, ready to learn attitude - there will be a steep learning curve as this person will be doing very specific tasks.
- This manager is really highlighting importance of the character and soft skills of the resource.
- Governmental, grant, fund-based accounting/finances experience would be great.
- Not looking for data analyst or data mining software, rather looking for 1-3 years of financial statement and/or accounting background (not a CPA but maybe an accounting college degree).
- Familiar with company accounts and statements (understanding salary is different from travel, ability to assess and the problem is in an unbalanced account/statement, etc.).
- Experience using NEIS for grant management etc. is nice to have.
- 3-5 years direct experience with reconciling subsidiary ledgers and general ledger accounts.
- Show capabilities of maintaining and improving efficiency and effectiveness, streamlining or enhancing processes while ensuring appropriate internal controls.
- Excellent analytical skills to evaluate data and make decisions.
- Demonstrated strength handling multiple diverse activities simultaneously and perform with accuracy and efficiency in a fast paced environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office 365.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance with a minor in Accounting.
- Setup and maintain programmatic budgets in the enterprise information system.
- Compile/analyze financial information and assist in the preparation and communication of monthly/quarterly financial reports to internal management and NYSERDA’s Board with supervision.
- Assist current Finance staff with the initiation and timely processing of journal entries associated with monthly/quarterly closing processes.
- Assist with the quarterly and annual financial statement compilation.
- Reconcile subsidiary ledgers and various general ledger accounts.
