About State University Construction Fund
The State University Construction Fund (Fund) is a New York State government entity dedicated solely to facilitating and expediting the construction, renovation, rehabilitation, and improvement of the State University of New York's academic building and infrastructure assets at 32 state-operated campuses and 3 teaching hospitals.
Our offices are located within the historic SUNY System Administration headquarters in downtown Albany, New York. Though officially named the H. Carl McCall SUNY Building, it is often referred to by locals as the "D&H Building," or affectionately, "The Castle."
The Fund offices and the adjoining employee parking garage are just steps from the Hudson River, a short walk to the Capitol Building and the Empire Plaza, and a few minutes' drive to major highways including the Northway (Interstate 87) and the New York Thruway (Interstate 90).
Job DescriptionThe State University Construction Fund (the "Fund") is currently seeking an Associate Accountant to join our Controller's Service team at our office in Albany, NY.
Responsible for performing a variety of general accounting, financial, and administrative duties for both operating and capital activity. In addition, this individual is responsible for the maintenance of financial and managerial accounting related records and assists in the preparation of the Fund's financial statements and statutory reports.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities- Maintenance of general ledger information, including preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Assist with the annual financial audit and presentation to Trustees.
- Complete reconciliations of accounting data, including cash and investment accounts, sponsored Fund's accounts, and the Fund's internal Data Warehouse System.
- Preparation of detailed and summary accounting reports, which may include capital and operating information.
- Assist in the preparation of various financial and statutory reports for internal and external use.
- Quality control review of the daily processed documents and evaluation of related internal controls.
- Review of financial qualifications for low-bidders on construction contracts.
- Maintenance of the Controller's Office Procedure Manual.
- Quality control review of Project Capitalization Forms.
- Review the work assignments of staff employees.
- Special projects as requested.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred), Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, plus three years of accounting experience is required. Additional consideration will be given for prior work experience in a comparable position or for additional related credentials, such as a Master's degree, CPA, or current pursuit of a CPA certification.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information in a clear and concise format.
- The ability to demonstrate judgment and discretion in matters of confidentiality.
- Strong organization skills and an attention to detail.
- Strong accounting and information technology skills, including Microsoft Office Applications.
Salary range: $78, per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Employees are eligible to request approval to telecommute a limited number of days per month after completing 6 months of service. Telecommuting approvals will be made in accordance with the Fund's Telecommuting Program Guidelines.
