Job DescriptionINFRA TECH ENGINEERING is a multi-discipline engineering firm providing highway design, bridge design, civil engineering, bridge inspection, construction inspection and materials testing service for transportation infrastructure projects throughout New York for over 43 years. INFRA TECH ENGINEERING is headquartered in NYC with additional offices in Syracuse, Binghamton, Albany, Westchester and Long Island. INFRA TECH ENGINEERING is currently seeking transportation construction inspectors (all levels) to join our construction inspection team for highway and bridge projects throughout New York State including the NYC area.
We currently have needs in Albany, Essex, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren, Washington, Syracuse, and Binghamton.
Qualified candidates will fill Construction Inspector (NICET II), Senior Inspector (NICET III), Chief Inspector (NICET IV), and Office Engineer (NICET III/IV) positions, in NYSDOT Regions 1, 3 and 9 along with local municipalities throughout New York. Previous experience with construction inspection of NYSDOT heavy highway and bridge construction projects or similar is preferred. NICET certifications are preferred but not required. Certifications such as ACI Concrete Field Testing, ATSSA, NETTCP Soil & Aggregate, NACE Level 1, SSPC C-1 are desired.
Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
- Review of plans, documentation of work activities as well as quantity calculations
- Inspection of work to ensure conformance with approved plans and specifications, including field inspection and office engineering
- Ideal candidates will have experience working with NYSDOT Standard Specifications for Construction and Materials and NYSDOT Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK)
- Candidates with standard industry certifications from NICET, ACI, NACE, NETTCP, or ATSSA are preferred
- Candidates should also have good oral and written communication skills
- NYSDOT and/or locally administered Federal Aid project experience preferred.
- Experience with NYSDOT Site Manager software a plus.
- Maintain a valid driver's license
- Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
- Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
- Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
- Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
- Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
- Able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6' to 20'
- Able to wear and operate personal fall arresting apparatus, and work at a height of 6' or higher
- Able to wear ITE required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
- Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
