The Electrical Engineer position is a hybrid or onsite role depending on departmental requirements. It reports to the Engineering Supervisor/Manager within the service engineering group and is a key member of the service engineering team. This highly technical, customer‑facing role involves field assignments, training, and technical support across solar inverter and battery storage technologies.
Responsibilities- Perform engineering assignments related to the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of solar inverters and battery storage technologies.
- Lead complex field engineering assignments.
- Interact with customers to explain technical scopes of projects.
- Create and update field service procedures for troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Provide training to customers, vendors, and internal personnel as part of the training center.
- Coordinate with R&D engineering in China for technical documents and training.
- Manage technical issues for designated regions.
- Prepare root‑cause reports for customers.
- Track technical issues on Airtable and visualize progress.
- Analyze failure trends, provide proactive reports, and recommend R&D improvements.
- Advise on and lead safety‑related training.
- Perform electrical and electronic troubleshooting and testing using oscilloscopes and PQA.
- Investigate solar plant issues such as battery faults, inverter design issues, and grid transients.
- Work with SCADA engineers to set up systems communication.
- Research alternative field components.
- Communicate with Factory Engineering and plant engineers for field service tasks.
- Collaborate with logistics, finance, and program management to maintain solar/BESS plants.
- Assist with repair activities at the service center.
- Submit field and management reports.
- Support technical proposal development and review scope and effort.
- Conduct site visits, experimental investigations, and propose engineering solutions.
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
- Participate in weekly calls with headquarters engineers to review issue resolution progress.
- Provide details for monthly reporting.
- Ability to work with test equipment and hand tools.
- Strong customer service, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Broad knowledge of electrical and construction site safety.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Basic knowledge of Electrical Safety Standards.
- Either 4 years of experience in power electronics organizations (service engineer, application engineer, R&D, product management, etc.) or 2 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or above in electrical engineering or similar disciplines.
- Experience in the solar industry, battery industry, or power electronics is preferred.
- Technical problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Self‑starter with strong initiative and excellent communication.
- System and product level mindset.
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and proactive.
- Strong technical support focus and service orientation with sales teams and customers.
- Modbus protocol knowledge is desired but not required.
- Proficiency in English (required).
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is desired but not required.

For candidates in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington, the anticipated annual base salary for this role is between $80,000 and $120,000 (exclusive of other compensation components).
