Materials Technician Job Description
- The role involves critical materials testing and observation services on various projects including roadways, bridges, airports, and large commercial developments.
- As a Materials Technician, you will perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
- You will be responsible for testing, observation, and inspection in accordance with training and specified procedures, as well as providing clear documentation of findings and results.
- Basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before submission to the Project Manager is required. Communication with the Project Manager and other personnel is crucial.
- Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials.
- Document findings and results clearly and accurately.
- Analyze data to ensure accuracy before communication and submittal.
- Communicate effectively with the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
- Train lower-level technicians based on experience.
- 1-2 years of relevant field experience in materials testing.
- Experience with concrete, steel, and compaction testing.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in using laptop computers and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Capability to pass a drug/background/MVR test (THC is acceptable).
Skills & Qualifications
- ACI Level I certification or on track to obtain.
- Engineering degrees are advantageous.
- Familiarity with geotechnical reports.
- Ability to drive vehicles like a Ford F-150.
- NICET certification, geology, and quality assurance knowledge.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $26.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
