Project Designer - Civil​/Structural

We are seeking a Project Designer - Civil/Structural.

Position Summary:

The position assumes the responsibilities of a civil/structural designer performing design of LV, HV, EHV electrical power systems with emphasis on design of electrical power substations of transmission and distribution systems. Responsible for creation of drawings for substation engineering design projects including detailed civil/structural design for high voltage substation projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

• Create and revise design drawings of high voltage transmission and distribution substations including:
  • Site plans.
  • Foundation plans and details.
  • Structural Steel plans and fabrication details.
• Peer review of other's drawings.
• Maintain drawing files - archived, current and working revisions.
• Update drawings to field as-built conditions.
• Teach and mentor young designers and/or new employees on civil/structural design and company practices.
• Participate in the development and review of company standards and design tools to optimize design applications.
• Provide project support/office support as required.
• Occasional travel to field sites or working at a client's office may be required.

Educational Requirements:

• Associates Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology preferred, but not required.

Experience & Training Requirements:

• 5+ Years' Experience in Design of Transmission Level Substations (13.8kV - 500 kV) including:
• Site plans.
• Foundation plans and details.
• Structural Steel plans and fabrication details.
• Good written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to work well with others in a team setting
• Skilled in problem solving in time-sensitive situations

Computer Skills:

• Demonstrated experience in the following software programs:
• AutoCAD (2015 or later) - Advanced, required
• Micro Station - Advanced/Intermediate, preferred
• Microsoft Word - Intermediate
• Microsoft Excel - Intermediate
• Microsoft Outlook - Intermediate

Travel Requirements:

• Project Engineers' travel level is typically 10%.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift / move equipment up to 15 lbs.
