OverviewColliers Engineering & Design is currently seeking a Project Engineer - Buildings/Structural to join our team. The position involves working alongside engineers and architects as part of a design team, applying structural engineering principles toward the successful design of low to mid-rise new construction projects and evaluating existing structures for renovations or reuse.
Responsibilities- Independently apply knowledge of structural principles and practices in various assignments.
- Prepare engineering calculations with the aid of computer software, spreadsheets, and hand calculation.
- Create structural design plans and details in Revit.
- Coordinate with architects, owners, and other engineering disciplines.
- Design and review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
- Analyze and interpret data, formulate, and solve problems.
- Provide direction to structural engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
- Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs.
- Perform field investigations and site visits as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering with a Structural emphasis from an ABET accredited university;
Master’s Degree is preferred. - Experience in Commercial, Science & Technology, Educational, and Municipal type building projects is preferred.
- Minimum of 6-10 years of related structural engineering experience required.
- PE license is required.
- Basic to intermediate skill level in Revit with willingness to progress to advanced level.
- Ability to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge.
- Extensive knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles, and practices in steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
- Ability to effectively perform as a key team member and role model to junior engineers.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Basic to intermediate understanding of structural engineering software such as RISA, RAM, TEKLA, TEDDS, etc. with willingness to learn and become proficient.
- Ability to perform as a project engineer with limited guidance and collaborate with multiple members of a design team.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for job-related communications and verbal instructions.
Compensation: $83,700 to $102,900 per year (depending on qualifications)
