This job opportunity is available at ANY location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a JACOBS U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the “best” candidates.

We need someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative work environment and who enjoys working closely with clients in the Data Center market.

Responsibilities
  • Lead preliminary assessments and concept creation.
  • Resolve internal and external problems.
  • Create drawings and specifications.
  • Provide customer and vendor accessibility.
  • Be the EoR for designs.
  • Provide coverage for project leads.
  • Possibly lead projects, depending on bandwidth.

The Senior Telecommunications Engineer will work on several concurrent projects, ensuring they are completed on time.

Provide technical design leadership of systems for data center buildings, including structured cabling, wireless, audio‑visual, and other low‑voltage systems. Mentor other telecom team members.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience actively designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 and its application to telecommunications structured cabling systems.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam.
  • Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers and clients.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Familiarity with responding to RFPs.
  • Experience in providing quality assurance and checking telecommunication systems designed by others.
  • Experience with startup and commissioning of telecommunications systems.
  • Experience creating a project budget.
  • Experience creating and maintaining a project schedule.
  • Experience identifying and mitigating company risk.
  • PE license and the ability to obtain multiple PE licenses is required.
Ideally You Also Have
  • 4 years of telecommunications design experience in data centers.
  • Experience working on other low‑voltage systems, including security, audio/visual, and wireless.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms.
  • Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls systems and security systems.
  • Proficiency in CSI or AIA specification writing procedures.
  • Credential as an RCDD.
