Academic Interventionist – Elementary & Middle (Immediate & 26‑27 SY) (Finance)
Position OverviewSchools:
Elementary and Middle Schools
The Academic Interventionist is responsible for working directly with students to provide tutoring, coaching, goal‑setting, and academic case management to achieve measurable improvements in academic performance.
Duties / Responsibilities Instructional Intervention- Develop academic lesson plans based on students’ individual learning needs, engaging new knowledge through seeing, hearing, touching, etc.
- Use data to facilitate student improvement and increase engagement.
- Provide students with daily feedback on mastery performance in character and academics.
- Facilitate collaborative, socially‑centered interventions that foster teamwork.
- Lead small‑group tutoring, coaching, goal‑setting, and academic case management to bridge gaps in understanding.
- Perform routine administrative tasks, including report preparation, correspondence, filing, telephone answering, and data entry.
- Demonstrate strong pedagogy and authentic interest in student growth.
- Collect and enter student data on academic gains and other outcome targets, completing all required documentation.
- Organize daily, weekly, and monthly work to meet deadlines according to policies.
- Communicate student progress to core‑content teachers.
- Work collaboratively with school teams across KIPP Capital Region.
- Help develop a fit‑for‑students, teachers, and families school culture.
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings, communicating openly.
- Develop positive rapport and foster a calm learning environment.
- Enforce school values, student management policies, and culture.
- Be available for critical events such as staff meetings, open houses, and PTAs.
- Maintain strong communication lines with parents and share progress.
- Be available for open houses, parent‑teacher conferences, and other parent events.
- Make oneself available to students, parents, and staff.
- Pursue challenging professional goals each year.
- Offer and accept constructive feedback to foster a professional working atmosphere.
- Assist Lead Teacher in problem‑solving and timely determination of classroom issues.
- Participate in school‑wide and individual professional development, including summer pre‑service training and weekly sessions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Adhere to organization policies and promote mission, vision, and values, including internal surveys and data collection.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties outlined by School Leadership and the Senior Director of Scholar Support Services.
- Commit to anti‑racism, equity, and racial justice in all efforts.
- Comply with all charter, federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Adhere to organization policies and promote mission, vision, and values, including internal surveys and data collection.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required.
- Valid NYS Teaching Licensure or willingness to pursue state certification is required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a school educator, preferably in a charter or public school.
- Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
- Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment honoring diversity.

- Prolonged sitting at a desk and computer work.
- Access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
- Vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment.
- Read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Stand, walk, sit, use fingers to type, handle objects, reach arms, climb stairs, balance; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl; talk, hear.
- Write and operate standard office machines: computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, phones, calculators.
- Occasional lifting and moving up to 20 pounds.
