Overview

The New York State Master Teacher Program, established in 2013, recognizes outstanding K-12 public school STEM teachers and counselors and sustains a statewide professional network of educators dedicated to professional growth and development. Master Teachers and Master Counselors are educational leaders committed to sharing best practices and to creating engaging and inspiring learning environments for all K-12 students as well as support for teacher and counselor preparation programs.

The New York State Master Teacher Program is a vibrant professional network of more than 1400 outstanding public-school K-12 STEM teachers throughout the state who share a passion for their own STEM learning and for collaborating with colleagues to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.

The Program Assistant position is for an experienced, committed professional to maintain the organization of program data and to support staff and participants of a state-wide educational initiative. The Program Assistant is a support staff position that reports to the Executive Director of the New York State Master Teacher Program.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with dissemination, collection, and analysis of member participation data.
  • Support communications updates and preparation of programmatic reports.
  • Assist with application review process.
  • Perform data, logistics, and other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree
  • At least three years of professional experience
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, energy level, and creativity that translate into enthusiasm for the successful accomplishment of program goals
  • Fluidity with Microsoft Suite products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and Google Workspace

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding and appreciation for K-12 education, including K-12 counseling and higher education
  • Training and/or experience with a range of digital/print/online social media platforms
  • Familiarity with social media platforms
Additional Information
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • No travel is required. Participate in periodic all staff and/or specific project meetings. Schedule to be confirmed with Executive Director, with at least three hours per day in office, between 9am-5pm.
  • Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $34,500-$41,500 annually.
  • The state title for this position is Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3) and is part of the United University Professions Union.
