The Massry School of Business at the University at Albany, State University of New York seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Finance with a focus on the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and new technological tools to finance.

This position is in the Department of Finance, responsible for undergraduate and graduate (MBA) education in AACSB‑accredited finance concentrations and the Financial Market Regulation major. The department has a long history of high‑impact scholarship and innovative educational programming. It currently runs the Financial Analyst Honors Program (the only honors program in the School) and an MBA concentration focused on alternative investments.

Faculty publish in high‑ranking academic and practitioner outlets, and we seek scholars with active research agendas who can publish in leading finance journals.

The role is part of the University’s AI initiative, creating a cohort of faculty across disciplines to stimulate research and teaching in emerging technologies. Candidates should demonstrate an active research program and be willing to teach courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with a particular interest in bringing fintech concepts to students and helping them build skills for innovation in the workplace.

• Conduct innovative research and publish in top peer‑reviewed journals
• Provide rigorous instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses
• Present scholarly research at professional academic conferences and meetings
• Contribute service to the Department, School, University, community, and the broader profession

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctoral (PhD) degree in Finance or related field from an accredited university by 08/15/2026
• Record of training in technology fields such as computer science that equips the candidate for an AI‑oriented position
• Record of research requisite for an appointment as Assistant Professor of Finance
• Plan to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in varying modalities (in‑person, online, and/or hybrid)
• Ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within a diverse campus community
• Ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging in the role

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses, especially training finance students to use innovative technology tools
• Demonstrated potential for obtaining external grants and research funding
• Professional certification such as CPA, CFA, FRM, or CAIA

Professional Rank and Salary Range:
Assistant Professor 10 Months, A5, salary commensurate with experience.
