The School of Education at the University at Albany, State University of New York, is seeking applicants for a Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG+) Postdoctoral Fellowship within the Division of School Psychology.

The Postdoctoral fellow will work with one or more faculty members on their ongoing research. The position title will be Visiting Assistant Professor or Postdoctoral Associate depending on the background and experience of the candidate. This is a 12-month position that is expected to be two years in duration and may lead to a potential appointment of a tenure track faculty position.

The division of School Psychology in the School of Education uses a practitioner-scholar model of training and supports two programs: a three-year NASP-approved CAS program, and a five-year APA-accredited Psy.

D. program. Both programs, which follow cohort models, focus on the use of evidence-based practices embedded within multi-tiered systems of support. Graduates have the skills to provide direct psychological and consultation services to children and their families, as well as school-based faculty, staff, and administrators, while respecting the experiential and cultural differences of each individual in an equitable and inclusive manner.

This position will include expectations for writing and publishing research results in high-impact journals. The Fellowship is for two years.

Although the areas of research specialization within School Psychology are open, successful candidates will show a commitment to producing high-impact research that complements the program's and the department's existing areas of expertise and is grounded in student success by ensuring equitable and inclusive opportunities, experiences, and environments for all (e.g., reducing disproportionality in child academic and/or behavioral outcomes; training and supervision).

The Fellow will work closely with other faculty to advance their personal research portfolio with journal publications, presentations at national/international conferences, and grant proposal development. The Visiting Assistant Professor or Postdoctoral Associate will be mentored by experienced faculty and will have access to campus resources for both research and teaching skill development.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in School Psychology
  • Mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students in research
  • Dissertation committee participation
  • Potential supervision of doctoral and CAS practica
  • Service to the division and department

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Applicants are expected to possess a Doctorate in School Psychology, prior to the start of the appointment, from an APA accredited program from an accredited college or University.
  • Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
  • Demonstrate an academic/scholarly track record relevant to school psychology.
  • Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing DEI efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on DEI; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.
  • Fellows are welcome to focus on a wide range of scholarly topics and disciplinary areas with an emphasis on promoting and impacting DEI through scholarship, teaching, and service to the campus community.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to those applicants who are Licensed, or License Eligible in the State of New York.
