Overview
The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at NYU Langone Health is seeking an experienced adult cardiac surgeon to join our team at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn. NYU Langone Health is renowned for exceptional patient care, cutting-edge research, and innovative medical practices, ranked #1 in the nation in Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery. The NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn Cardiac Surgery program started in 2025 as an expansion of NYU Langone Heart services into the borough.
The ideal candidate in this junior attending role will be driven and dedicated to continuing the growth of the service under the guidance of the NYU Brooklyn Chief of Cardiac Surgery. This position focuses on delivering high-quality, comprehensive cardiac surgical care for adult patients in a dynamic, team-based environment. The role includes participation in multidisciplinary heart team conferences, quality improvement initiatives, and the education of residents, fellows, and medical students.
As part of an integrated academic health system, there may be opportunities to collaborate across NYU Langone locations. This academic appointment provides opportunities for professional growth and advancement through NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
- Performing the full spectrum of open adult cardiac surgery, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, and aortic procedures
- Participating in perioperative management and multidisciplinary heart team decision-making
- Engaging in education, quality, and programmatic development activities within the department
- Optional involvement in research and academic initiatives aligned with departmental goals
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) with a focus on adult cardiac surgery
- 2–4+ years of post-training experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience with CABG, valve repair/replacement, and aortic surgery
- Experience with structural heart procedures (e.g., TAVR) preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
- Eligibility for New York State medical licensure
Able to start within 6 months
