Position: Landscape Architecture (Planning) Intern
Location: City of Albany

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a landscape architecture intern to join our community planning team in our Albany, NY office during Summer 2026.

Our team of planners, urban designers and landscape architects deliver experience, expertise and creative thinking on every project. Planning at any level is a complex undertaking, whether it’s for a neighborhood, a town or city, or an entire region. At Colliers Engineering & Design, planning is both comprehensive and multi-disciplinary. Our planning professionals connect with the community to understand long-term goals and capture potential opportunities that result in enduring solutions.

Our landscape architects take community visions one step further by delivering innovative design solutions that bring vibrancy and excitement into the public realm.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with report research, writing, and setup.
  • Provide mapping, visualization, and document design support.
  • Maintain records, collections and files related to specific projects.
  • Design and production of conceptual plan views and 3D visualizations to support project development.
  • Research zoning, precedents, and agency regulations as needed to advance projects.
  • Work alongside landscape architecture professionals for a wide range of projects in New York and Connecticut.
  • Assist with projects related to Parks and Open Space Design, Trail Design, Brownfield Redevelopment, Transportation Planning, Master Planning, Urban Development, Land Use, and Resiliency Planning.
  • Support public outreach initiatives, including preparing meeting materials, meeting attendance and note taking, and preparation of public facing communications.
  • Occasional travel to sites throughout Upstate New York and Connecticut may be required.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Basic ArcGIS and Microsoft Suite skills required.
  • Basic AutoCAD experience required.
  • Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and Illustrator experience preferred.
  • Sketch Up experience a plus.
  • Previous internship experience a plus.
  • Possess solid problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in a high-paced environment.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills required.
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $21.00 to $25.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)
