• Responsible for substantial in‑person or telephone contact with members of the public seeking services or information regarding licenses, registrations, identification, testing, insurance, penalties, hearings, and related agency programs.
• Effectively use a computer with multiple applications running simultaneously.
• Operate telecommunication consoles, cameras, cash drawers, photocopiers, fax machines, scanners, calculators, etc.
• Process customer payments such as cash, checks, credit card charges, and inventory of documents, license plates, registration stickers, and other security items.
• Wear a headset and answer telephone calls handled by a complex telephonic system; calls may be monitored for quality assurance. Maintain calm, courteous, and reasonable demeanor even with uncooperative or hostile individuals under stressful circumstances.

• Graduated from high school or earned a high school equivalency diploma AND have either:
  1) one year of experience in a customer service role with substantial face‑to‑face or call center interaction; OR
  2) 30 college semester credit hours.

One year of permanent, contingent‑permanent, or 55b/c service allocated to a G‑7 or higher eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 or Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law, or currently serving in the title and eligible for reassignment.

If previously served in this title or a transferable title, may be considered for reinstatement pursuant to Civil Service Law, subject to a mandatory 52‑week probation period.

Position eligible for 55b/c designation; candidates must meet minimum qualifications and submit a current 55b/c eligibility letter.
