Description
The Office of Public Safety (OPS) is seeking a student assistant for the Highway Safety Technology Unit (HSTU). The handling of these tasks will help the student gain professional skills while assisting OPS with special projects.
Duties / Responsibilities- Assist in the collection and review of data for compilation of program area reports.
- Observe technicians in the process of inspection, diagnosis, repair, and certification of evidential breath test devices and speed enforcement instruments.
- Assist with the filing of both electronic and hard copy records.
- Assist administrative tasks including email and telephone communications with customer agencies.
- Assist with the production of reports on instrument certification data for data requests.
- Assist technicians with intake and movement of breath alcohol testing and speed enforcement equipment brought on-site for maintenance and certifications.
Must be a current student enrolled in a matriculating degree program and have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree‑granting two or four‑year college or university.
Preferred QualificationsThe preferred candidate would possess experience with MS Word and Excel, basic technical/mechanical skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
